STV Awarded Two Construction Management Contracts to Renovate Public Housing Buildings in Brooklyn and the Bronx

The Modernization Projects are the First Two Design-Build Initiatives to Move into Construction Under the New York City Public Housing Preservation Trust

NEW YORK, NY—STV today announced thatthe New York City Public Housing Preservation Trust (Trust) selected the firm to manage construction for two major design-build renovation projects: New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) Nostrand Houses in Brooklyn and the NYCHA Bronx River Addition in the Bronx.

In its role as Construction Manager as Agent, STV will oversee interior and exterior renovations for the Trust, which will raise these buildings to today’s housing standards and improve daily living for residents. Renovations include apartment upgrades, new heating and cooling systems, elevator replacements, accessibility and security improvements and energy-efficient windows and lighting. The team will also address priority repairs, including lead and mold removal and pest and waste management.

“These projects are an historic opportunity to rebuild homes and improve quality of life for thousands of New Yorkers,” said Vincent Zito, CCM, DBIA, senior vice president and project executive at STV“Our team knows these buildings, systems and communities well, so we are ready to deliver the kind of modernization that will create safer apartments, stronger buildings and real improvements to daily life.”

These projects are the first design-build initiatives to advance into construction under the Trust, a public entity that repairs, renovates and modernizes public housing for residents in partnership with NYCHA. This is a major milestone in New York City’s effort to modernize its public housing by streamlining design and construction through resident-driven, comprehensive building upgrades. Together, the renovations will directly benefit more than 2,300 residents across 18 buildings and support broader efforts to address critical repair needs across NYCHA’s 177,000 apartments citywide. These updates will create healthier, more sustainable buildings and reduce the facilities’ environmental footprint.
